Blog Post #1

My main interest is in early childhood education. It was somewhat difficult finding a blog that was interesting. I wanted to find one that would teach me some new things about the field. Luckily, I was able to find a really great blog created by a woman named Abby who is a librarian from Chicago.

In Abby’s blog, she wrote about her first experience presenting to a group of preschool teachers about early literacy. Abby wrote that through her presentation, she gave the teachers new strategies and activities that they can do with their students. She also shared how she felt during her presentation and what she would have done to improve it.

I found Abby’s blog to be helpful for those going in the education field, not necessarily just for preschool teachers, but whoever is interested in promoting early literacy to children. She even included the website (ECRR) that she got her information from which I can use in the classroom. Abby also reviewed some books and gave her insights on them. She even gives suggestions of how to use them in the classroom. It’s a very interesting website. If you are in education and need some assistance with early literacy, Abby has some great information on her website.

Hi Anna,
Thanks for checking out my blog and linking me. :) I'm glad you found the information helpful! Another one of my favorite sites about early literacy is ELSIE, which is the Early Literacy Storytime Ideas Exchange. It's run by the Minneapolis Public Library and it's a Great resource for finding books to use with preschoolers.

Anna,

I am also interested in the early literacy. I think it's important to introduce literacy and also make it fun in the early stage of the student's life. I think the website you found could be a help for me and other teacher/teacher candidates to get an idea of what kind of books are available to use.
You can also check my blog to visit the blog I found for the resources we can use. I think it's really cool. =)
